Bowls Season

During the bowls' season, April - September, the club holds club mornings on Tuesdays and Saturdays (ladies) and Thursday evenings (men), evening triples (mixed) on Tuesdays.

There are also league matches every Thursday afternoon (ladies) and Saturday afternoons (men).

These are run by the Bournemouth and District Bowls Associations who also run competitions for bowlers to enter.

Members can also enter County Competitions if they so wish and of course we have the traditional club competitions.

Throughout the season touring bowls clubs come to Richmond Park to play in mixed Friendly matches.

One such club was the Chelsea Pensioners Bowls Club. It was a privilege for us to meet and play against these wonderful retired soldiers and they very kindly invited us back to their beautiful Chelsea Hospital grounds where we were treated to a lovely meal and a competitive game of bowls.

Another such privilege was awarded to us by the Metropolitan Police (Mounted Police Horse division). Their bowl's club has frequently visited Richmond Park and they kindly invited us to play in a return match at Imber Court allowing us to visit the Police Horse Training Stables where we were thrilled to meet the beautiful police horses. Another visit was to Windsor Castle to play against the Royal Household.

So not only do we have the opportunity to play on our own lovely greens we also have days out playing on other special greens and meeting fellow bowlers.

Richmond Park has many County Badged players who are regularly selected to play for the County - so we are a very competitive club as well as being sociable.

Social Events

Our calendar is always full and as a member you can play as much or as little as you wish. Yearly events take place such as Presidents' Day and Charity Day where we have fun bowls, produce stalls and sometimes a barbecue.

Social nights have included a 1940's night (see photos on right), musical evening and a steel band to name just a few. These have been accompanied by fish and chips or buffet meal. They have all proved to be great fun.

This year we are celebrating the Queen's Jubilee by having a Jubilee charity Day. This year funds raised will go to the President's charity which is the McMillan Unit at Christchurch.

During the winter months we hold indoor events which include whist drives, military whist, darts, board games and short mat bowls - so you would never be short of things to enjoy. So why not come along to see us.
